Lance Armstrong's VC invests in muscle-stimulation app maker; Ancient Nutrition appoints Shearson CEO; Penchienati-Bosetta heads specialized nutrition at Danone; and pharma veteran Philipp leads vapor technology firm.

The first investment by world champion cyclist and endurance athlete Lance Armstrong's Next Ventures LP venture capital firm is in PowerDot Inc., maker of an app-based, muscle stimulation device for increased wellness, recovery and performance enhancement. Veteran investor Lionel Conacher is the lead investor in the senior seed round and will have a seat on PowerDot's board to provide operational and financial advice. Carlsbad, Calif.-based PowerDot on Jan. 16 said its namesake app is the fastest growing brand in its category and that it recently launched PowerDot 2.0, which allows users to personalize their experience and track data in one place. The team's roster of ambassadors includes professional cyclist Lawson Craddock, Olympian and world champion hurdler Georganne Moline, former US Navy Seal and four-time CrossFit Games veteran Josh Bridges and Nike Master trainers Joe Holder and Kirsty Godso.
