Executive Summary

Rep. Herb Klein (D-NJ) discusses inclusion of Givaudan-Roure's UVA sunscreen ingredient Parsol 1789 in the OTC monograph process with HHS Secretary Donna Shalala Feb. 16. According to a Klein staffer, Shalala will be looking into how the application is being dealt with at FDA. Rep. Klein has taken the lead in pushing for inclusion of the ingredient in the sunscreen monograph and is soliciting support from other members of Congress ("The Rose Sheet" Feb. 14, p. 9)
