SANOFI BEAUTE 1993 NORTH AMERICAN SALES INCREASE 72.3% to $190.7 mil., based on a Dec. 31, 1993 exchange rate of FFr 5.9090 = $1, parent Elf Sanofi said in its recently released annual report. Worldwide Sanofi Beaute sales nearly doubled, up 91.4% to FFr 3.78 bil. ($639.4 mil.). The sales were bolstered by Elf Sanofi's acquisition of Yves Saint Laurent Groupe in May 1993 ("The Rose Sheet" May 24, 1993, p. 1). YSL Parfums contributed FFr 1.53 bil. ($258.3 mil.) to Sanofi Beaute revenues, and YSL Couture, FFr 112 mil. ($19 mil.).
