Executive Summary
BODYWASH LIMITED-SPECTRUM ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY is appropriate, CTFA asserted in joint comments with the Soap and Detergent Association regarding FDA's June 1994 OTC health care antiseptic tentative final monograph. Including the "broad spectrum" requirement for general use, bodywash products as required in the agency's TFM "is not necessary" for these products "because the resident flora, which is of primary concern, consists largely of Gram positive bacteria," the Cosmetic, Toiletry, and Fragrance Association and SDA maintain in their June 15 comments.
