Biopharmaceutics: Discontinues Treo 3-Way Outdoor Protection lotion as a result of a Nov. 1 preliminary injunction barring the firm from marketing the lotion during the 1996 season, the Bellport, NY-based company announces Nov. 17. The order is the result of a countersuit filed by Treo licensor Primavera Labs in November 1994 aimed at ending its agreement with Biopharmaceutics. In July 1994, Biopharmaceutics filed suit against both Primavera and Avon for violating Biopharmaceutics' retail mass market license; Avon has rights to market the product under the Skin-So-Soft name via direct sales. Biopharmaceutics charged that Avon's products have been "found in numerous retail stores" nationwide. Biopharmaceutics said it is "refocus[ing]...its efforts on its core [pharmaceutical] businesses" and is in talks with two potential acquisition candidates.
