ESTEE LAUDER FRAGRANCES, ACQUISITIONS BOOST AMERICAS SALES 18% TO $472.4 MIL, in the second quarter of FY 1996 (ended Dec. 31), the company announced Jan. 30. Estee Lauder pointed to the recently acquired Bobbi Brown and M.A.C professional cosmetic lines as well as the launches of pleasures women's fragrance and tommy men's scent as reasons behind the "significant gains in operating profitability" for the Americas in the quarter. The Americas region consists of the U.S. market as well as Canada, Mexico, Venezuela and Argentina.
