Executive Summary
SYNTHETIC GLYCOLIC ACID RECOMMENDED OVER NATURALLY DERIVED INGREDIENT by Herald Pharmacal Manager-Research and Development Jay Dickerson for use in the formulation of alpha hydroxy acid products. At an April 9 meeting of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists, Dickerson said that, "the disadvantage of natural glycolic acid" is that a "high concentration, high purity product" requires a "tremendous volume" of sugar cane or sugar beet.
