Executive Summary
DEP PLANNING BASIQUE SIMPLIFIED SKIN CARE RELAUNCH FOR "EARLY 1997" following the issuance of a preliminary injunction Oct. 10 banning the sale of the skin care line in its current packaging, Dep said. The injunction resolves a lawsuit filed by Estee Lauder Sept. 17 in New York Southern district court charging that Dep's basique skin care line infringes Lauder division Clinique Labs' Clinique trademark and trade dress, according to Dep. At the time of the suit, the basique line was being tested in regional markets, including The Cosmetic Center in Bowie, Md. ("The Rose Sheet" Sept. 30, p. 1).
