SUNSCREEN IN VITRO CYTOTOXICITY DATA HAVE "LITTLE RELEVANCE" TO ACTUAL USE, the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association and the Nonprescription Drug Manufacturers Association assert in Dec. 5 joint comments responding to FDA's Aug. 15 Federal Register notice on sunscreens. The notice reopened the administrative record for OTC sunscreens until Dec. 6 in preparation for the development of a final monograph ("The Rose Sheet" Aug. 19, p. 1).
