CLARINS THIERRY MUGLER ANGEL SALES INCREASE 25.3% TO $38.6 MIL. worldwide in 1996 (FFr 214.3 mil.) based on a Feb. 11 exchange rate of $1 = FFr 5.56, the Paris-based beauty care company reported Feb. 4. Sales for the women's fragrance in the U.S. advanced 25% "despite a very limited distribution," the company said. Angel debuted in the U.S. in 1993 into 200 prestige doors, following its European introduction a year earlier. Sales for Thierry Mugler Parfums, which comprise Angel and the recently introduced A Men, jumped 42.4% to $43.9 mil., or FFr 413.9 mil., on a constant group structure and exchange rate basis. A Men bowed in European doors in the fall of 1996 and is slated to hit U.S. shores this year.
