Executive Summary

CIR FINDS ASCORBYL PALMITATE FAMILY "SAFE AS USED" in a final report issued at the Cosmetic Ingredient Review meeting in Washington, D.C. April 4. The CIR Expert Panel review included ascorbyl palmitate, ascorbyl dipalmitate, ascorbyl stearate, erythorbic acid and sodium erythorbate. The ingredients were used as antioxidants in 1,308 eye, hair and face products in 1996, including 720 hair dyes and 215 lipsticks, according to data supplied by FDA.
