Executive Summary
Petroleum distillates: Consumer Product Safety Commission extends comment period to July 11 for its advanced notice of proposed rulemaking requiring that household products containing 10% or more petroleum distillates by weight with a viscosity less than 100 SUS at 100F be packaged in child-resistant packaging, according to an April 28 Federal Register notice ("The Rose Sheet" March 3, p. 9). Twenty-eight cosmetic products, including baby oil, contain petroleum distillates, according to FDA. CPSC listed baby oil as a potential candidate for repackaging. CPSC extended the comment period by 60 days at the request of the Chemical Specialties Manufacturers Association.
