Executive Summary
PACKAGING CHANGES WOULD EXCEED $1 BIL. UNDER OTC LABELING REGS, NDMA asserts in comments submitted to FDA Oct. 6 on the proposed labeling requirements for OTC drugs. Citing the "substantive" labeling requirements proposed, the Nonprescription Drug Manufacturers Association says in addition to labeling changes, physical alterations to the packaging of a large number of products would be necessary to comply with the reg. Based on a survey of its members, NDMA estimates the total cost to industry of changing packaging to accommodate the reg would total $1.27 bil.
