Executive Summary

COLGATE-PALMOLIVE LATIN AMERICAN SALES UP 15% TO $597 MIL. in the third quarter, with a 12% volume growth, the company reported Oct. 16. Sales for Colgate's largest region, generating 26% of overall revenues, increased due to "very strong gains" in Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and the Dominican Republic. The company's oral care business performed well during the three months, fueled by new product introductions, including Colgate Baking Soda & Peroxide and Double Cool Stripe toothpastes. The Latin American personal care unit also "contributed to excellent regional growth," with gains in Protex Fresh soap, Optima and Caprice hair styling aids and Lady Speed Stick Invisible antiperspirant/deodorant.
