FDA COSMETICS OFFICE MOVE NEAR U. MARYLAND IMPROVES RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES under a reorganization of the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, the agency said. CFSAN, which has been renamed the Joint Institute for Food Safety and Applied Technology (JIFSAN), has entered into a "partnership" with the University of Maryland that will allow the two organizations to pool scientific expertise, resources, equipment and facilities. Announced in 1996, the partnership will be administered by both FDA and the university. FDA's Office of Cosmetics and Colors is one of many JIFSAN regulatory offices scheduled to move to the institute's new College Park, Md. site by 2000.
