Executive Summary
FDA OTC LABEL STUDY PARTICIPANTS: TWO-THIRDS UNDER AGE 45, so that as the OTC drug and cosmetics/drug industries begin to analyze and comment on the survey results, the age range of the participants may become a sticking point in determining how generalizable the data are. The Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association, for example, notes in Oct. 6 comments on FDA's proposal to revise OTC drug labels that a separate consumer preference and comprehension study to be conducted by the agency (Study C) lacks a "sufficient sample" of elderly consumers ("The Rose Sheet" Oct. 6, 1997, p. 10).
