Executive Summary
Continued strength in skin care, including the Neutrogena, RoC and Clean & Clear brands, led consumer health care sales in the first quarter, J&J announced April 14. However, strong skin care sales were not sufficient to keep Worldwide Consumer division sales from decreasing 2.7% to $1.64 bil. for the first three months of 1998. On a constant currency basis, sales in the consumer unit increased 2.4%. Domestically, consumer health care sales were flat at $840 mil., compared to $832 mil. in the same period a year ago.
