Hibiscus flower acids exfoliate, smooth skin without irritation, ingredient supplier says.

This article was originally published in The Rose Sheet

Executive Summary

HIBISCUS FLOWER ACID LESS IRRITATING, MORE HYDRATING THAN AHAs and beta hydroxy acids, and could be used as an alternative ingredient in cosmetics and anti-aging skin care products, according to Laurent Sousselier, PhD, Greentech Ingenierie Biologique. Speaking at the HBA Global Expo in New York City June 8-10, he explained that acids from Hibiscus sabdariffa work as a "superior exfoliating" ingredient without the "reddening or any other irritating effects observed with glycolic acid or other types of alpha and beta hydroxy acids." The all-natural skin care active ingredient also has moisturizing properties. Greentech is a natural ingredient supplier based in Saint Beauzire, France.
