Executive Summary
The Fragrance Counter's revenues jumped 176.2% in the first three months of fiscal year 1999 (ended June 30), the Brentwood, N.Y.-based company reported Aug. 12. Allou signed agreements with Yahoo!, Excite and Lycos to market fragrances through the on-line search engines in May ("The Rose Sheet" May 11, In Brief). Net revenues rose 5.8% to $68.6 mil. in the quarter. Net income after expenses related to The Fragrance Counter, however, decreased 29.4% to $697,152. In its annual report for FY 1998 (ended March 31), the company noted that health and beauty aids sales increased 12.8% as a result of increases in same store sales.
