Executive Summary
Involving 30,000 women from 43 countries found 67% of women consider lipstick the one beauty product they "can't live without," while facial moisturizer was the most important beauty product for 49% of women. When asked to identify the three top reasons why they wear fragrance, 69% of women replied "to feel clean and fresh," 50% said to feel "confident" and 48% answered that it makes them feel "feminine." One of the least popular answers was "to please others," Avon noted. The survey, completed in early 1998, also revealed that on average, women around the world spend 25 minutes a day on skin care and makeup but would spend 40 minutes if they had the time. The survey was released at the company's Globex Global Beauty Exchange Sept. 24-25 in New York City
