Executive Summary
Global consumer sales were flat at $1.59 bil. in the third quarter, the company reported Oct. 13. Johnson & Johnson continued to record strong performances in its skin care franchise, which includes the Neutrogena, RoC and Clean & Clear brands. J&J's consumer products business represents about one-third of the company's overall sales. Domestic consumer product sales were flat at $806 mil. over the prior year period. The consumer segment's international sales totaled $761 mil., a 2.8% decrease due to negative currency translation. Worldwide sales increased 2.5% in the quarter to $5.72 bil., led by a 4.2% gain in overall domestic sales ($3.08 bil.). Net earnings rose 12.4% to $961 mil
