Executive Summary
Cosmetic Ingredient Review Expert Panel asked by the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association to agree that the murine local lymph node assay can be used as a "stand-alone alternative" to animal testing for contact sensitization. The Inter-Agency Coordinating Committee for the Validation of Alternative Methods found the assay to be a viable alternative; the committee report is under review by federal agencies ("The Rose Sheet" March 29, p. 9). FDA said in the best-case scenario, the agency would finish its review of LLNA in six months. CIR said it will consider the data
