Use of abbreviated labeling for color additives is allowed by FDA pending publication of the final rule on color additive lakes, Office of Cosmetics & Colors Director John Bailey, PhD, states in a June 7 letter to the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association. CTFA had requested labeling need not include terms such as "FD&C," D&C," "No." and the cation identification of color additive lakes.
