Allyl isovalerate, a synthetic fragrance ingredient used in cosmetics, is placed on the final Category I Candidate List developed by the California EPA's Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment for prioritizing chemicals of "high" carcinogenicity concern. The agency is seeking comments regarding the Category I list, which are due by Oct. 5. Final prioritized chemicals placed in Category II, which includes C.I. Acid Red 51 and C.I.
