Executive Summary
Net sales increase 16% to $78.7 mil. for the fiscal third quarter ended Aug. 31, compared to $67.6 mil. in the same period last year. Net income for the Ban antiperspirant marketer jumped to $6 mil. before extraordinary items, a 36% increase over 1998. For the nine month period, the Chattanooga, Tenn.-based company reported net sales of $224.8 mil., a 40% increase over $161.1 mil. for the period last year. Chattem is introducing 10 new products in 2000, including extensions under the PhisoDerm, Gold Bond and Ban brands
