Sunscreen stickers

This article was originally published in The Rose Sheet

Executive Summary

Quarter-sized patches measuring accumulated UV radiation are expected to reach the U.S. market by spring 2001, Israel-based Skyrad announces May 25. The patch can be placed on the skin or clothing and gradually changes color as it absorbs UV rays. Twelve patches have been developed for various skin types (from "very light" to "very dark") with each version designed to be used with or without sunscreen. The patches are distinguished by varying amounts of three photochromic chemicals. Skyrad is in discussions with several large sunscreen manufacturers to find a partner to market the product and possibly co-promote it with sunscreens. Although pricing has not yet been determined, the firm says each patch likely would cost around 10[cents]
