Executive Summary
Revenues for Consumer Products division increased 3% to $2.56 bil. (Y1=$.008) for the six months ended Sept. 30, Kao's sales and earnings release says. Personal care sales in North America and Europe jumped 19.7% (9.4% excluding currency exchange) for the period, fueled by sales from Ban antiperspirant and deodorant, which was acquired by Kao in August 2000 (1"The Rose Sheet" Aug. 28, 2000, p. 11). Also contributing to the gain was strong sales for Jergens Naturally Smooth Shave Minimizing Moisturizer, which debuted in May (2"The Rose Sheet" May 21, p. 11). Kao is predicting 2.7% growth in consumer products segment for fiscal year due largely to an expected 16% gain in overseas businesses including North America and Europe
