National Consumers League, Telecommunciations Research & Action Center and Consumer Action request fraudulent, unsolicited commercial email be declared "deceptive trade practice" under FTC Act in citizen petition submitted to commission Sept. 3. "It is intrusive and legally actionable for telemarketers to make unsolicited, fraudulent phone calls," consumer groups note. "We believe it is in the public interest for electronic marketers to be held to a similar standard."
