Executive Summary
Gucci beauty division sales in the first quarter (ended April 30) increased 2.4% to $158.7 mil. (€1=$1.13) on constant currency basis, but declined 1.2% on a reported basis, luxury goods manufacturer announces July 2. Yves Saint Laurent brand sales increased 3.5% on a constant currency basis driven by 3.1% growth from fragrances and 5.4% growth in makeup, Gucci adds. The division benefited from launches of fragrances including Alexander McQueen Kingdom, Zegna Essenza di Zegna during the period, but marketing expenses and start up costs contributed to an operating loss for the division in the quarter.
