Aging skin: Skin irregularities caused by enlarged sebaceous glands in older women could be minimized by a "substantive" product "that will deal with and mix with the sebum as part of the formulation, so instead of the sebum destroying the cosmetic emulsion, it augments or enhances the cosmetic emulsion," dermatologist Zoe Draelos, MD, Dermatology Consulting Services, High Point, N.C., states Dec. 5 at the Society of Cosmetic Chemists annual scientific meeting in New York City. Cosmetic products currently available are often broken down by the presence of sebum, Draelos explains.
