Executive Summary
California Air Resources Board will hold public hearing March 18 in Sacramento, Calif. to consider variance applications from Gillette and Procter & Gamble. Variances are granted to manufacturers who prove they cannot comply with volatile organic compound regulations due to extraordinary reasons beyond their reasonable control. Gillette has applied for a variance from the 40%VOC limit for aerosol antiperspirants and the 0% limit for aerosol deodorants. P&G has applied for a variance from the 40% VOC limit for aerosol antiperspirants and the 75% limit for personal fragrance products with 20% or less fragrance.
