"High-end affluent" female consumers, defined as those with an annual household income of over $200,000, spend an average of $70 every three months on fragrances, according to an NPD Beauty report released March 28. Affluent consumers, or those with annual household income between $100,000-$199,000, typically spend $59 in the same time period, the report adds. High-end affluent women tend to shop for beauty products in department stores, while affluent consumers are more likely to shop at mass merchandisers, NPD says, noting both groups generally shop for beauty products less than once a month.
