UV protection: Salicylic acid protects skin from UVB rays and may increase DNA repair, Estee Lauder Companies scientist Thomas Mammone reports during Society of Cosmetic Chemists Annual Scientific Meeting in New York City Dec. 8-9. Lauder research has shown the ingredient, traditionally used in anti-acne topical applications, inhibits cox-2 formation and suppresses NFKB in human epidermal keratinocytes, Mammone notes.
