Ralph Macchio has been named chief scientific officer and also assumes the newly created post of SVP of global research, the firm announces June 28. Macchio, who won this year's HBA Lifetime Achievement in Product Development award, will be responsible for improving Coty's R&D capabilities, tightening business development across product teams and exploring the possibility of partnering with other firms to identify breakthrough technologies. He joined Coty in 1992 and previously served as the general manager of the firm's Morris Plains research facility.
