Trimollient BC is a patented citrate ester that "works synergistically with organic sunscreen actives to optimize absorption of the UVA spectra and prevent damage to the skin," according to March 11 release. FDA currently is finalizing sunscreen monograph that includes standards for UVA protection claims, Croda points out (1"The Rose Sheet" Jan. 14, 2008, p. 3). "It is critical for the formulator to optimize the UVA/UVB ratio and critical wavelength of a finished formulation to ensure maximum UVA protection claims on the label," firm says, noting that Trimollient BC is "highly compatible" with the majority of approved organic sunscreen actives and "easily incorporated" into the oil phase of formulation. Croda also has "extended its softening technology beyond conditioner formulations" and developed a shampoo-compatible quat, Crodazosoft SSQ, that allows for creation of "shampoos that are aesthetically pleasing and deliver hair that is soft and sensuous to the touch"...
