Updates on development of alternative methods to animal testing and toxicological evaluations of ingredients will be offered at May 26 symposium in Nice, France, event organizer Pôle PASS says. Symposium is intended to shed light on state of affairs in "race against the clock" before Seventh Amendment to the European Cosmetics Directive is implemented in 2009, banning the use of animal testing in cosmetics development. Research Institute for Fragrance Materials, European Association for the Validation of Alternative Methods (ECVAM) and the European Cosmetic, Toiletry and Perfumery Association (Colipa) will participate. RIFM's Senior Test Program Specialist Jon Lalko will speak on role of alternative methods in evaluating safety of fragrance ingredients and bring attendees up to speed on RIFM's development activities and discuss how alternative testing methods fit in with group's safety assessment programs...
