Executive Summary
John Paul Mitchell Systems CEO John Paul DeJoria initiates Campaign for Consumer Product Safety national tour to rally support for pending legislation against consumer product tampering. Introduced in the House, the Antitampering Act (HR 2100) would prohibit "unauthorized destruction" of product identification codes. John Paul Mitchell Systems will meet with retailers to ensure they are not selling products with altered codes. DeJoria already met with Senate Judiciary committee member Spencer Abraham (R-Mich.) and House Judiciary Ranking Minority member John Conyers (D-Mich.). The exec also testified at an Oct. 21 hearing on the bill (1"The Rose Sheet" Oct. 25, p. 9). Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) was expected to introduce a companion bill, but that likely will be postponed until Congress reconvenes next year
