FDA is extending the comment period for its proposed sunscreen regulation to Dec. 26, 2007; the 90-day comment period initially was set to end Nov. 26. The proposed rule will amend the 1999 FDA final rule on sunscreens that block UVB rays to incorporate new testing and labeling requirements for products that protect against UVA rays (1"The Rose Sheet" Aug. 27, 2007, p. 3).
