Women should be able to obtain emergency contraceptive pills in advance of actually needing to use them, the UK's Family Planning Association urges as part of its Contraceptive Awareness Week 2004. More than 75% of the 100,000 women who call FPA's helpline each year would like to have "access through the bathroom cabinet," but nearly half of family planning clinics questioned do not provide this service, the organization says. FPA will campaign for increased access to EC through distribution of posters and leaflets to selected health professionals and student unions during Awareness Week.
